I noticed that when arriving at WISDOM in the dictionary, one's nearly to the end before he finds it.
The twitter novel... Come to think of it, even the longest of fiction novels tends to involve less than 120 characters.
I've figured out that when making choices, do the opposite, that way my wife will either be pleased or correct me into doing what I wanted in the first place.
Cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, and other dangers are choosing having fun inside our eternal presence instead of being healthy in our temporary flesh.
Someone woke up today and thought about his most important to-do list, then was suddenly dead in an auto accident, and found that to-do list was not so important.
I do my taste bud aerobics by small sips of fine wine but on "workout day", sips of fine aged scotch. Better than cereal crunches my friend.
If zeros are really nothing at all, how come it's so hard to add a couple to one's checking account balance?
I just want to thank the ghosts, the Elenor Rigby social friends she never had because there was no internet, that might have read these black scratches on white background and allowed my voice inside their minds for a few moments.

Rainy Day Ramble
Laughter is our innate realization that tragedy in our life is possible and even probable and our propensity to celebrate that absurdity when it is absent.
I remember staying over at Ricky Jackson’s house when I was fourteen. We were talking about girls and I mentioned one I thought was terrific, so he said, I think I will ask her to go steady with me. He just called her right up and asked her to go steady… but to my delight she turned him down. So he started dialing and asked about four others until one of them said, Yes I will go steady with you. I was flabbergasted at his bravery.
When I’m eating bacon, I don’t picture a pig in my mouth. Same thing with pork chops, although the name is clearly defined. In fact I never picture the hog byproducts in my hot dogs at the ball park or think about dead pigs at all when I am eating. But it’s a big fat pig right there in your mouth. Don’t kid yourself.
After I sent two aerial bombing missions of fire ant killer on to the mound, the death of the queen was assured. A lone ninja ant scaled my shoe to strike his revenge, lancing into my flesh repeatedly with his sacred sword. His subsequent flattening in one slap was an honorable death worthy of the warrior. The itching white pock he left was a memorial to him and his regal queen for days.
We like to have our photos taken with celebrity so our friends and family can see us standing beside someone whom they really admire.
When I was a kid, money was real stuff in my front pockets. Today it's just numbers on my computer screen that get moved to other places.
My definition of eternal creation is based on the building blocks. I believe that the sun is a nucleus, the Earth a magnetic field electron, & our solar system a single atom, & the universe a maze of atoms.
Mom’ Day is the ultimate one. She carried you 9 months, went thru labor, and was there for you all those years. Dad’s just made that initial deposit, and then went thru labor to make bank deposits for you all those years. It’s no contest.
Film is experienced from the outside in, but Music is experienced from the inside out.
Life is lived in a funnel, swirling with possibilities at the wide top but running out of options at the narrow exit.

This is my George Plimpton, Paper Lion account of seeing "Crazy Heart" last night.
Since Cindi was in Oklahoma City for business I was batchin' it. Usually that means a night of writing, or lonely TV, or surfing the net. But I recalled seeing something on Facebook about a Lone Star Music sponsored event in Dallas, a special screening of Crazy Heart at the Angelika on Mockingbird. I went to the LSM web site and discovered that the event was announced a week ago as a free screening to those who applied and received tickets via email. This was only a few hours before the event itself, but I sent in a request any way. In the end, no invite. But by now I was preparing to go, so I decided to just show up and see what happened. Maybe I could buy a ticket.
The web site had stated that Lone Star would have a previewing party in the cafe area of the lobby and on arrival, through the many glass windows, I saw a big crowd just inside the lobby filling a Starbucks looking concession area. Outside was a gathering long line of folks who wanted to be inside. I also noticed that away from the main entrance, at the back wall of the theater cafe, there was an exit door and a man in western attire came out to light a smoke. I just sauntered down and entered through that door and was instantly in the middle of the action.
Inside, the logistics were Helter Skelter. Three Lone Star Music people sitting at a table in the cafe had the print out of the "invitees" and one was to check in with them. The longer line coming in the main entrance was also being checked in, but at the door. I just got a wine and stood back wondering if I should just call it quits and go home as this throng continued. However, I've always been one to drive to the very front of a full lot, looking for a parking place. If you don't look, you don't get, I always say. So when I saw a shortened line at the cafe table, I was soon announcing myself to the list keeper.
Embarrassedly, as he flipped pages back and forth, I said, "I'm not sure if I made this list. When was it printed? I only emailed Chad today."
"Chad Rainey?" came the list checkers reply, and he flipped to another page for that special list of invitees. Again my name was not there.
"Just write his name in there at the bottom of Chad's list," a man in charge told the list checker, and I was IN. You don't look, you don't get.
Later that evening I had the chance to walk up to and introduce myself to Chad. A friend of mine connected us on Facebook because my friend knew I was into Texas music, and Chad owns the common ground music interest, Lone Star Music in Gruene, Texas. I commented that I just had one question for him.
"How many different women contact you every day? Because whenever you say anything on Facebook, I've never seen so many comments by women flocking in."
He beamed up from his wheel chair and said that he averages 7 1/2 contacts by women per day. Women do love this man.
Jeff Bridges is worthy of not only the Golden Globe that he won for best performance by a leading role actor, but also the Oscar. Maggie Gyllenhaal is likewise worthy of best supporting actress recognition. She was terrific, but he was so authentic and raw and transparent. Just great. This movie will take a short tour of screens and then be quickly out on PPV. Be sure to see it.
Then I went to the Lone Star Music after-party at Love & War in Texas only because it was being held here in Plano, not far from my home... Incredible people watching! But that's another story.
